Thanks for being part of The Savvy Suppers Club! And don't forget: if you're new here, I share a BRAND NEW meal plan each week, with the full shopping list, all the recipes, and plenty of tips and tricks from me!

This week's dinners start in Italy with a slow-simmered chicken cacciatore, followed by a big bubbling mac and cheese and an easy Indian-inspired curry. Then comes a cheat's pie night, and we finish with a peanut noodle number that's perfect for those jars of curry paste we all end up with in the fridge, with never quite enough left for anything!

Five proper dinners for 2 to 3 people, with everything used up by the time the week is out!

As always, the cost stays down because everything works hard across more than one dish. Take the two packs of chicken drumsticks: one goes into the cacciatore and one into the pie, and whatever chicken is left from each ends up in the curry and the noodle bowls. The broccoli, leek, mushrooms and carrots are shared between the pie, the mac cheese and the noodles, and one bag of milk powder covers every drop of milk you'll need, not just this week but for many to come!

That's why I love buying milk powder. It doesn't go off like fresh milk, you can keep it for what feels like an eternity, AND it often works out cheaper than the fresh stuff too.

Tip of the week

Yellow stickers! A great way to keep costs down at the supermarket is to buy discounted items. You'll find yellow stickers in each section, usually because the best before is that day or the next. At my supermarket it's the morning, yours might be the evening. If you know you're cooking with it today or tomorrow, perfect, you've cut down your bill. And if it's something like meat and you have a freezer, why not portion it up when you get home so you have some for another day?

Saving money on your food shop is sometimes about building up a little stock of things too. So while this plan looks after you Monday to Friday, those little extras save you dollars and help keep costs low over the weekend too! For more tips, I made this video; give it a watch- it might help you out with a few other ways too.
